about pam and gary
Fr. Jonathan says we are smitten. Yes, indeed!
This relationship began quickly and easily following a kiss, after a walk, after a friendship. We had known each other in leadership roles at All Saints’ Church for several years and had developed a trust relationship and a mutual respect built over time. Gary had spent most of 2016 in the aftermath of Cathy’s death and Pam spent this time preparing for and experiencing open heart surgery last Fall. By early 2017 we were both ready to live life and to find someone to love and to love us.
We both knew very early on that we were experiencing something new and unexpected. We decided in early May to enter this relationship without hesitation and with deep love and trust. Neither of us could have imagined how quickly and how profoundly our lives would be changed by this decision. In June, at a diocesan meeting in San Antonio, Rod Clark observed something about us and with his characteristic “Cheshire” grin asked, “So what’s next?” We looked at each other like deer in the headlights because we hadn’t really asked that question yet. Well, that jump-started our conversation, and we talked all the way home about what a future together might be like. We’ve been talking about it ever since.
Gratitude has been foremost on our hearts - gratitude for the joy we’ve found in one another, for the sheer fun of being together, for the affirmation and support we experience from our friends and families, for the full life we’re sharing with each passing day and for the absolute gift of having found love like this at our age. As our friends keep telling us, it’s a God thing. Our small imaginations weren’t up to the task of preparing us for the reality of what we are experiencing every day as we merge our lives and homes.
As we share this new universe with each other, we invite you to share with us as we join our lives in marriage on April 21st, 2018 at the F9 Ranch in Beeville. It will be a celebration, a music fest, a reunion of friends and family - a party in the spirit of the F9.
