Gifts

As you may have figured out, the only gift we want is your presence.  If you feel inclined to offer a donation in celebration with us, we have included three charities we support and which provide a vital ministry to the people they serve.

Cathy Chatham Camp Scholarship Fund

This fund was created to honor Cathy’s passionate pursuit and support of youth and family camping at Camp Capers and at Bishop Elliott Center in Rockport, which was later replaced by the Mustang Island Conference Center. Cathy was the quintessential “happy camper”. She attended Camp Capers for the first time as a two-year old when her parents took her to one of the first family camps. She spent her summers at Capers as soon as she was old enough, and later she was a counselor, a teacher for nearly 30 years and the first lay dean at Camp Capers. Our kids grew up there as well, as did many of our friends who knew her as a teacher, a mentor and master name tag painter.

The fund’s purpose is to provide financial assistance to youth and adults to enable those who would otherwise not be able to take part in the spiritually enriching and life forming experiences of the diocesan camping program at Camp Capers, Mustang Island or Duncan Park, Colorado.

The Chatham family will match 2018 donations up to $5,000. Please join us in supporting this important ministry.

Joe Jackson Fund for Compassionate Living

The Joe Jackson Fund for Compassionate Living (JJFCL) named for the years of dedication and support from Dr. Joe Jackson, has been the expression of Outreach Ministry All Saints’ Episcopal Church for more than 25 years, providing financial and volunteer support for the outreach ministries of All Saints and many other charities and ministries.

The All Saints’ Food Pantry provides boxes of groceries to neighborhood families every two weeks. For many of these families, the Food Pantry is an important and consistent source of food assistance.

JJFCL provides assistance to Child Protective Services through its Adopt a Caseworker program by providing backpacks and school supplies, as well as Christmas gifts and Easter baskets, to the caseworkers, who distribute them to the children under their care.

For years the Fund has provided financial assistance to Michael’s Street Kids, a program of assistance to homeless children in Haiti. The JJFCL has also provided assistance to victims in Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake and following devastating hurricanes.

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, The Fund is providing significant financial and volunteer relief to the storm’s victims in Port Aransas, Rockport and the surrounding area. Throughout the year, many other ministries apply to the JJFCL and receive grant assistance for worthy programs in our community and beyond.

 St. Vincent’s Centre

Founded in 1945 by Sister Joan, a physical therapist and member of the Society of Saint Margaret, Saint Vincent’s Centre (SVC) is one of more than 250 institutions operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti. Unique among all the valuable ministries in the diocese, Saint Vincent’s is the only one providing academic, clinical, and residential services for blind, deaf, and physically disabled children and adults. At Saint Vincent’s, students learn to work with their disabilities while also studying reading, writing, history, geography, mathematics, English, art, and music.

SVC offers a variety of medical services to its students and the surrounding community. Services offered include pediatrics, orthopedics, and physical therapy, as well as resources for those with hearing and/ or vision-related conditions. Prosthetic services are provided by a brace shop located on the Centre grounds.
